Life Members & Past Players Day – August 5th

The move to our new home at Ganbu Djila Sports Park is complete and we are excited to invite you to the Life Members & Past Players day for 2023 on August 5th
This day will include:

  • Triple Header of games:
    • 3s @ 12:15pm
    • 2s @ 2:40pm
    • 1s @ 5:30pm.
  • A light afternoon tea around 4pm for Life Members and Past Players.
  • The canteen and bar will be open throughout the day, with Chicken Schnitzels available for dinner from 5pm onwards.

Opening Ganbu Djila Sports Park

Ganbu Djila Sports Park, the joint-use sports facility was officially opened at Charle La Trobe College. Thank you to all our members, past and present, who came out to show support.

Below are the words spoken on the day by our President – Marc Heenan:

I stand here today with immense excitement and pride to be part of this groundbreaking achievement for our club and the La Trobe community. After a challenging and yet determined journey, we have finally hit a home run.
New Beginnings:
This milestone represents the dawn of a fresh chapter in the history of our club. It is a testament to the unwavering dedication and perseverance of our members, committee, and supporters. As we take this leap forward , we do so with hearts filled with exhilaration to create a future where the La Trobe University Baseball Club soars to new heights.
Seizing Opportunities:
In this new era, we recognize the immense power of forging partnerships and collaborations. We are eager to work hand in hand with a diverse range of stakeholders, Charles La Trobe College and individuals who share our passion for sports, innovation, and community. Together, we will create a vibrant network that propels our community forward.
Boundless Potential:
The baseball field, multi-sport tablet or Ganbu Djila as we know it now isn’t merely a physical structure; it represents the connections we will build and the relationships we will foster. 2023 Training Staff

The committee is pleased to announce Club Coach for 2023 is Josh Loveridge. We have also appointed Luke Devlin to the role of Training Supervisor.

Josh and Luke’s key responsibilities include conducting club training, player development and leading a positive club culture.

O’Week Sports Fest

Interested in baseball at La Trobe University?

The 2023 winter season is soon approaching! We will be at the O’Week Sports Fest, come on down and meet some players and try out a bit of baseball. Everyone is welcome.

Farewell to the Baseball Field – July 23rd

Save the date – July 23rd will see our final function at the La Trobe Bundoora baseball field. The day will include:

  • Acknowledgement of Life Members and Past Players
  • Triple Header
    • 3s 12:00pm
    • 2s 2:15pm
    • 1s 4:30pm
  • Speeches and a farewell ceremony after the 1s game
  • Finger food provided from halfway through the 1s game with drinks at bar prices

Moss / Leake Charity Match

Thank you to everyone who came down to support the Moss Leake Charity Match last Friday evening. We raised $1250 for a great cause with The Black Dog Institute . Big thanks also to everyone from Fitzroy Baseball Club for a fun night with friends and family.

Preseason Training

Preseason kicked off today with our first session down at our favourite baseball diamond. Beautiful sunny conditions saw an enthusiastic group of players get into it with the obligatory stretching and warmup followed by some throwing and then hitting in the cage.

It was a great way to ease back into La Trobe Uni Baseball for season 2022!
